Gearhart Golf Links, an 18-hole golf course that opened in 1892, is the oldest golf course in the Northwest. It is located just three blocks from the Pacific Ocean. Highlands Golf Course is a 9-hole, executive-length golf course that offers a challenging golfing experience. Both of these golf courses are open to the public, so there are no membership or maintenance fees.

2. Catch your dinner

Dig for razor clams at a local beach, or fish for salmon or sturgeon in the ocean, river or bay in the fall and winter. Check with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife for more information on seasons, limits, and licenses.

3. Go shopping

The charming center of Gearhart is ideal for shopping or just browsing. It’s one of the few places in the US where mom and pop operations haven’t been put out of business by commercialization. Gearhart is home to antique shops, home and garden shops, an old-fashioned grocery store, and an art gallery.

4. Take a hike
